***Red Day***: Today is a Red Day and the Air Quality Forecast predicts that particulate matter concentrations have the potential to exceed federal air quality standards.  Such pollution concentrations have a high probability of impacting public health.  Outdoor burning and the use of Wood Burning Stoves or other Solid Fuel Burning Appliances is prohibited on Red Days unless that is the sole source of heat for the household.  No open burning is allowed on Red Days.

Air Quality Forecast

The Air Quality Forecast is determined using available data including, but not limited to, local weather conditions, local wind conditions, current and anticipated PM-2.5 particulate levels, and weather and particulate forecasts to predict what the air quality is or potentially will be.  The forecasts shall be:

 

When is burning season?

No burning is permitted from June 15th through September 30th each year. Restricted open burning from October 1st to June 14th is allowed only during burn days regulated by the City of Pendleton. 

 

Designated Burn/No Burn Days

Open burning within the City of Pendleton shall be automatically prohibited on the following days:

         (a) New Year's Day

         (b) Memorial Day weekend (Saturday through Monday)

         (c) Fourth of July

         (d) Labor Day weekend (Saturday through Monday)

         (e) Pendleton Round-Up, from Saturday following Labor Day and continuing for the succeeding 9 days.

         (f) Thanksgiving Day

         (g) Christmas Day
