Air Quality Forecast

The Air Quality Forecast uses available local weather, wind, PM-2.5, and forecast data to predict current and potential air quality.

• Green Day: Air circulation is predicted to be adequate. Wood-burning stoves may be used, and open burning is permitted after 10:00am.
• Red Day: Conditions do not allow open burning. Wood-burning stoves and other solid-fuel appliances are prohibited unless they are the household's sole source of heat.

When is burning season?

No burning is permitted from June 15th through September 30th each year. Restricted open burning from October 1st to June 14th is allowed only on burn days regulated by the City of Pendleton.

Designated Burn/No Burn Days

Open burning within the City of Pendleton is automatically prohibited:

• From June 15th through September 30th each year.
• When the City Fire Marshal or designee prohibits burning because of fire-safety conditions.
• When current or predicted winds pose an unreasonable fire-safety threat.
• On National Weather Service Air Stagnation Days.
• On New Year's Day, Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July, Labor Day weekend, Pendleton Round-Up, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
